#MeToo in Law?

News this week about the High Court independent findings from High Court Associate's allegations of sexual harassment by former High Court Judge Dyson Hayden (who has denied these allegations) has brought to the fore and into the open, legal culture, legal hierarchy, legal leadership, the standards of behaviour, words, often accepted or walked past in law, as many remain silent, as 'victims' perpetrators or those that stay on the sidelines and watch, tight lipped (3 police officers in George Floyd incident) Lets broaden the discussion to include bullying, harassment, discrimination and targeting of queen bees as these too form part of the dehumanising behaviour in law. Louise poses questions to 'victims', perpetrators and those that watch these behaviours from the sidelines , in silence. Are YOU Living In The Shadows With Depression? YOU Can WIN!

Are you anxious, stressed or depressed? Are you now struggling with the challenges you are facing? Mental health is predicted to be a huge issue going forward, post COVID 19. There is no doubt lawyers are or will be struggling 'in the shadows' with depression and/or self medicating with alcohol and illicit drugs, now and in the future. I provide 3 lessons I have learned (I will continue to share lessons I have learned through experience and education), that have helped me come out of the shadows, overcome depression, and live authentically, with happiness, satisfaction, contentment as the best version of myself, as I seek to make a difference to others. Lawyers Are Taught To Dehumanise! Lets Be Exemplary Human Role Models

Summary: Summary: Lawyers are taught to dehumanise from law school, where emotions and human skills are devalued and dismissed, thought of as unnecessary in practice and technicality seen as the only skill required for greatness (of course technicality is necessary). A high standard of humanity is required to be great people, leaders, role models in the world and in law. Our staff, clients, colleagues, counterparts, families, friends are depending on us to show up as our best selves in practice to serve them with excellence. . Lawyer's aren't literally killing people at work through dehumanisation, however, lawyers may be dehumanising others and not even know they are doing it!
