Lawyers, law firms, clients (and the community at large) are facing difficult challenges with Covid 19, which is creating economic instability and emotional distress due to health and financial concerns, for many. Its not business as usual and we don’t know what impact it will have on practice and businesses.
The effects of corona virus will either be a ripple or tsunami on the delivery of legal services, as people will likely be reticent, fearful to spend (govt has provided stimulus package to promote spending). It may cause unheralded disruption to legal practice – time will tell.
The firies were a fantastic example of community and courage, when fighting dangers, the massive fires in December/January 2020. We can prepare for danger before it hits (client centricity, innovation, leadership, willingness to change etc), but we cannot control danger – COVID 19 and disruption.
We all have the courage to survive any situation of uncertainty with the right tools, leadership and community. Do we have the tools to cope with uncertainty, fear, change, leadership and remain our best selves and perform with excellence with added stress? What are your plans if its not business as usual ie courts change their business; ie court business affected, working from home, client and staff pressures, dispute resolution?
I want to contribute in a meaningful way to the legal community, which I am a part of, I have a community responsibility. I am offering my skills – advanced trained mediator | FDRP at 50% off my usual day rate (up to and including 30 June 2020) via Zoom Video Conference or in person.
