I am barrister and a non – court dispute resolution expert (Zoom or In Person) where I assist lawyers and clients resolve disputes, in a way that considers the legal dispute and the human elements that underlie a dispute. I have trained to understand issues affecting people who have or are managing, conflict and high conflict, PTSD, personality disorders, grief, aggression, family violence, catastrophising, anxiety and the effects on their presentation, ability to think clearly, their behaviour. I understand how to manage and support people who display these behaviours (and others), so difficult behaviours do not derail the process. I ensure that the process and people involved are managed with skills, legal and human, for optimal results for everyone involved.
I accept mediation briefs as an advanced trained mediator (NMAS) (Zoom or In Person) in:
- Family Law (all areas including IVF and Surrogacy) – FDRP, arbitrator and collaborative coach
- Personal Injury (medical negligence and institutional abuse)
I accept litigation briefs in:
- Medical Negligence & Institutional Abuse.
- Administrative Law: Housing and Inquests.
Advanced Trained Mediator Specialist: I meet with clients for pre-mediation to understand their interests and needs, listen to their stories, and I hold a separate conference with lawyers prior to the mediation. Why? To try to understand the human and legal issues, which need consideration, to plan and effectively manage, so that a successful outcome is easier to achieve. This is in addition to the legalities.
I assist clients workshop their opening statements for mediation to promote rapport and trust is built, so the mediation commences on a positive footing, for further negotiations to commence. Negotiation and mediations: 1/2 of what needs to be considered is the substance of the dispute, the other 1/2 are the emotions and relationships of those attending and negotiating. They are both equally as important as each other.
