You Can Climb Out Of Hardship & Uncertainty With Skill!

With the current climate and challenges that this year has bought, many people and businesses are searching for effective tools to help them manage, adapt, grow, be profitable, successful and happier and in the process get ahead of the competition as they climb out of this year. They get coached, have a business consultant come in to their business to improve performance and culture, or develop and skill up and ready themselves for the future. They start something meaningful........ When it comes to leadership and business, a study of over 200 of the top CEO's was performed and it found that EQ was twice as important as IQ and technical ability in driving performance. It accounted for a 90% difference between the best and the rest. [https://youtu.be/WICq_Pj8ZUk] Its not the smartest people who are the most successful or fulfilled in life. IQ will help get entry to law school/professions, clerkships and professional jobs. IQ and technical ability won't help manage stress, build … [Read more...]

Essential Conflict Resolution, Leadership & Life Skill: INFLUENCE

When was the last time you spoke to your 6 year old asking them to brush their teeth before bed, go back to bed, hurry up and get ready for school, without success? Think about a time you spoke with your spouse/partner/friend/family and you wanted them to agree with you on a topic, without success? Think about the last time you attended a mediation, when you spoke (or observed others speak) at the opening, when the other side was informed of the strength of your case, their case was diminished [and they need a better handle on the law]. You may have been surprised they didn't 'come to their senses'. :-) Getting others to agree with you , having satisfying relationships, asking others to comply when we ask for help or when trying to alter others behaviour or thinking, sell our services or ideas or be an effective leader.... ALL require high levels of influence. Many people think influence involves force . It is, however, a skill, it takes time, effort and intention to … [Read more...]

Be The Leader YOU Want To Follow!

Are you new to the profession and at the perceived bottom of the hierarchy ladder, feeling voiceless, powerless? Do you trust your leaders? Do you feel safe at work every day? Do you feel protected and allowed to be yourself? Is it possible for you to be a leader? Do you hold a position of seniority, you have made your way up the hierarchical ladder in the profession, and believe you are automatically a 'leader"? Whats the difference between leadership, position/authority? Louise is inspired by Simon Sinek (Leadership Expert) and Brendon Burchard (High Performance Institute) on what makes a leader? Who can be a leader? Are you a leader or a person with position and authority? #holisticbarrister, mediator #FDRP #arbitrator #highperformancecoach (CHPC) #highperformanceconsultant (CHPC) #eqcoach #eqconsultant #leadership #Harvard #makeadifference. … [Read more...]

Online Mediation is NOT Mediation Online

Online mediation is a new process, its not just taking face to face mediations and applying the same principles to an online platform. I provide practical suggestions to assist practitioners on how to get the most out of online mediations and secondly, I provide advice on how to cope with the situation we are all faced with now, so that we can perform with excellence, each day. Its a choice. My offer of 50% off my usual day rate still applies, to use my dispute resolution skills, to assist the community and lawyers who are under financial stress and uncertainty. COVID 19 – Disneyland Closes

Lawyers, law firms, clients (and the community at large) are facing difficult challenges with Covid 19, which is creating economic instability and emotional distress due to health and financial concerns, for many. Its not business as usual and we don't know what impact it will have on practice and businesses. The effects of corona virus will either be a ripple or tsunami on the delivery of legal services, as people will likely be reticent, fearful to spend (govt has provided stimulus package to promote spending). It may cause unheralded disruption to legal practice - time will tell. The firies were a fantastic example of community and courage, when fighting dangers, the massive fires in December/January 2020. We can prepare for danger before it hits (client centricity, innovation, leadership, willingness to change etc), but we cannot control danger - COVID 19 and disruption. We all have the courage to survive any situation of uncertainty with the right tools, … [Read more...]
